Lodge Service Weekends
Three times a year, Nawakwa Lodge holds their Service Weekends at the Heart of Virginia Scout Reservation. Service Weekends serve three purposes: they give Lodge Arrowmen the opportunity to provide service to our camps, and during the weekend we induct new members by running an Ordeal. We also assist members who wish to seal their membership in the Order by going through the Brotherhood sequence.
Each of these weekends, held in March, June and September, are "all hands on deck" events. Nawakwa Lodge contributes thousands of man-hours of service to the Council camps, and every Arrowman is needed to accomplish the goals of each weekend. Only newly elected candidates take the Ordeal, and all Arrowmen in camp are encouraged to attend the ceremonies as we induct our new members. In addition to service to the camp, Chapter meetings are held, the Lodge Executive Committee meets, elections are held in June, and preparations are made for other lodge functions such as the Fall Fellowship and the Section Conclave.
Registration is $15 and includes all meals and cracker barrels, and a function patch. Service weekends are a great way to fellowship with your fellow Arrowmen, and you have the opportunity to serve on many of the Lodge committees that have a direct bearing on the successful completion of the weekends such as Service, Ceremonies, Food Service or Dance. Order of the Arrow and Nawakwa Lodge logo items, patches, sashes and other OA materials are available during the weekends at the Lodge Trading Post.
